The Genome Detectives Citizen Science Project was launched in July 2022 to help decode and classify genes found in bacteria that cause infectious disease. We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has taken part so far! You’ve helped classify over 10 thousand alleles so far (that’s almost 300,000 image classifications) which is absolutely amazing! Your work is directly contributing to research carried out by our group, the Maiden Lab, and by other scientists around the world.
We are continuing to develop Genome Detectives with feedback from our Zooniverse community, and have launched this blog to give you more insight into bacterial genomics and the work we do. You can also practise the skills you’ve learnt over on the Zooniverse Project through our Genome Detectives Training Academy.
Check back on this blog to see updates on the project as results are made available!
